DRB-HICOM BERHAD’S PRE-TAX PROFIT ROSE BY 70% FOR NINE MONTHS ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2012
DRB-HICOM Berhad reported its 9-month financial result for the period ended 31 December 2012 with an increase in pre-tax profit to RM 723.18 million compared to RM425.54 million in the corresponding period ended 31 December 2011.
Compared with the preceding quarter ended 30 September 2012, the Group also recorded a higher pre-tax profit of RM462.6 million for the quarter ended 31 December 2012 from RM162.66 million, a significant 184.4% jump.
The revenue for the quarter under review was RM2.78 billion, a 63.7% increase as compared to the same quarter last year. For the 9-month period ended 31 December 2012, revenue rose to RM9.77 billion from RM4.75 billion reported in the same corresponding period ended 31 December 2011.
The basic earnings per share for the quarter increased to 20.25 sen from 4.12 sen.
Commenting on the performance, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil, DRB-HICOM Group Managing Director said, “Consumer's preference & lifestyle have changed over the years and made the domestic automotive business more competitive and challenging. Notwithstanding, the financial performance of the non-automotive sectors have shown steady improvements over the previous financial period. “
He further added that “the Group will continue to embark with its initiatives and enhance and strengthen its existing core businesses and seek new business opportunities. The Board is pleased to declare an interim dividend of 1.5 sen gross per share.”
